Winter is just around the corner and Chicagoans will soon be faced with the challenge of heating our homes amidst rising energy costs. The City of Chicago Department of Environment is again this year coordinating a series of Winter Preparedness Fairs throughout the city.
These events serve as a one-stop shop for residents to address their winter energy related needs - including a home weatherization kit and the opportunity to apply for utility subsidy and assistance programs.
The events nearest to the 1st Ward will take place at 3 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Truman College, 1145 W. Wilson; 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Roosevelt High School, 3436 W. Wilson; and 3 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Prosser Career Academy, 2138 N. Long.
A limited number of $40 vouchers to purchase weatherization materials will also be available next month through the 1st Ward office.
